RIT Schedule Maker :: HelpThis is where you input the courses that you would like to have in your schedule. To be able to enter more courses then the number currently shown, use the drop-down box where it says "# Courses," change it to your desired amount and then click the "Refresh" button. The proper format for entering a course includes the following: "4003-233-01" and "400323301". If you wish to be able to enter multiple sections of a course (to be able to generate more then one schedule) use one of the following formats: "4003-233-*", "4003-233-4*", or "4003-*-*". The purpose of this section is to allow you to choose which year and quarter you wish your schedule to be displayed from - this way you can still make last semesters schedule, if you wish, and then try and figure out what this semesters course load will be. The purpose of allowing non-course items is so that you can add items like "Work", "Eating" "Study Time" - and various other personal, non-course related, items - to your schedule. Simple enter in a descriptive name of this time in the "Title" field (e.g. "Work"), choose a time at which this item will begin and end, then check the boxes of the days on which this event will occur. The end time is physically when the event will end. (e.g. If your event ends at 1:00pm, choose 1:00pm) Once you have entered the information it should now be displayed on your resulting schedule.
To be able to enter more Non-Courses, choose a new number from the drop-down box next to the text "# Non-Courses" and then click the "Refresh" button to display them. You will then be able to enter as many Non-Courses as you wish. Times at which you don't want classes The purpose of time blocks is so that you will have the ability to generate schedules that not only meet your particular class requirements, but also your time restraints. It is in this place that you will be able to enter restraints like "No classes before 10am" or "No class on Friday" with a couple simple clicks of the mouse.
To be able to enter more time blocks, choose a new number from the drop-down box next to the text "# Times" and then click the "Refresh" button to display them. You will then be able to enter as many time blocks as you wish. It is from here that you can customize how your schedule will appear, once generated. To be able to set when the schedule will begin and end, just change the start and end times listed to those desired. To change the first day and last day shown, additionally change those to what you desire. You can also customize what information you wish to be displayed on the schedule by checking (or un-checking) the check boxes associated with the data that you want. If you plan on generating more then one schedule, then these options are designed to help you. If you are having trouble getting the schedules that you want - enable "Verbose Mode" and it will tell you why certain schedules aren't being generated, and which courses are causing the most problems. Additionally you can choose to allow "Closed Courses" - this is helpful if you're looking to generate a schedule that contains one or more closed courses or if you're attempting to get into a closed course by talking with a professor. |
